PRIVATE
PILOTS
Private pilots generally require
Third Class Exams. No special preparation is required. Be sure to bring all
required glasses (for both distance and reading.)
FIRST
CLASS EXAMS
Airline pilots may require First Class Exams.
Electrocardiograms (EKG) are required at the first examination after reaching
age 35. The next EKG is required at age 40 and annually afterwards (or every
other exam for pilots having exams every 6 months.) The EKG's must be
transmitted by special equipment to the FAA. Ordinary EKG's are not acceptable.
The First Class Medical certificate cannot be issued until the EKG is
transmitted.
